During the final decade of the Cold War, the Kremlin devises a plan to plant a "dirty bomb" in Manhattan, set to detonate in a nuclear war. To counter this, the Department of Defense enlists retired U.S. Special Forces Colonel Marlon Berkowitz to lead The Quadrille, a covert team tasked with eliminating Soviet nuclear saboteurs on U.S. soil. His first recruit: Sgt. Patrick Francis Coonan, a relentless Ranger sniper who never tires of killing missions.
Years after the Berlin Wall's fall and the Iron Curtain's collapse, Washington disbands The Quadrille. But rumors swirl of a former Soviet GRU operative working with the Russian Mafia. Someone on Capitol Hill orders Col. Berkowitz to infiltrate the East Coast underworld with a trusted Cold War troubleshooter. The problem? The best man for the job is gone. His name is Patrick Coonan. Codename: Delta.
Paired with the striking redhead Jessica Fitts, aka Agent Phi, Delta is sent to Colombia on a joint mission with an OCF Moscow Bureau operative. Their orders: eliminate a “ghost from the past” and shut down a WMD bazaar linked to terrorist groups plotting jihad against the U.S. But in a world where nothing is as it seems, Delta soon learns that sometimes, making a pact with the devil is the only way to stop a greater evil.
Agent Delta and his partner Phi are sent to the island of Aruba for some major “house-cleaning“. Rumors have it that the Ostrovsky Clan has invested millions on the sandy beaches of the Caribbean, precisely on Eagle Beach, where they have established a money-laundering network to filter the profits of their illegal operations from around the globe—aside from those from the Latin-American drug cartels and the Islamic terrorist groups!
Patrick Coonan is sent to Barranquilla, Colombia, to track down a missing U.S. Navy submarine—one his chief has assured Admiral Peter S. Seltzer will be found and recovered. But the mission rests on Delta’s shoulders. In this fast-paced adventure, Pat is without his usual partner, Jessica, and instead teams up with a fiery Mexican freelance operative—armed with a volatile temper, lethal skills, and curves as dangerous as the bombs she builds.

I was born in Matanzas, Cuba, in 1959, the year the Cuban Revolution triumphed. After many struggles, my father got us safely to the U.S. when I was 11. I grew up in Florida, became an American citizen at 18, and never returned. From an early age, I loved reading and drawing, gravitating toward Art and Literature over sports, business, science, and math. I studied Commercial Art & Advertising in Miami, where I built my career, raised a family, and worked for over 30 years. My writing efforts paid off when I won the “Sole Second Prize” in the 2006 ENRIQUE LABRADOR RUIZ INTERNATIONAL STORYWRITERS AWARD and was a finalist in the 2006 TELEMUNDO WRITERS WORKSHOP contest. Before retiring to write full-time, I also worked as a freelance screenwriter at Cubana de Televisión Studios in Miami. In late 2023, MX Publishing (London) offered me a contract for my espionage thriller series Code Name Delta, projected to span 14 novels, with the first five already published in all formats, including audiobook. An action-packed short film based on the series is coming soon. My second series, Saving the World, has two novels set for release in 2025.

"This novel takes me back to the time of the Cold War, when there were often news about nuclear proliferation and people feared that someone pressed that button. A spy story set during that time is certainly interesting to me."
"This thrilling action novel, "The Quadrille" by Oscar Ortiz, provides an engaging narrative set during the Cold War. With well-divided chapters and impeccable editing, the book guides readers through an action-packed and thrilling adventure.’’
"The captivating narrative and the well-rounded character of Patrick Coonan have me eager to dive into "The Quadrille." The author's meticulous structuring and flawless editing are enticing, ensuring a smooth and immersive reading experience."
"Ortiz does provide intriguing information on many subjects, including the “one hundred and seventy meters long by thirteen meters wide” Ohio-class submarines, pencil detonators “color-coded to indicate their delay time,” and even algae." ─ Kirkus Reviews
